The Rainbow Project, Inc.

The goal of The Rainbow Project is to help reconstruct hurting families, to create a safe and nurturing home life, and to break the cycle of child abuse and domestic violence.
The Rainbow Project provides services to children and families experiencing stress related, but not limited to, the effects of trauma (physical, sexual and emotional maltreatment), neglect, attachment issues, witness to domestic violence and other biological and environmental stress. The Rainbow Project clinicians provide prevention, comprehensive assessment, treatment, evaluation and follow-up services. Early intervention is key for hopeful outcomes.

In recent years, The Rainbow Project has had to expand their client base to include children who have experienced natural disasters because many Katrina survivors have moved to the Madison area. Another group that has increased dramatically is Grandparents Raising Grandchildren – it grew from 15 families two years ago to 70 families in 2008. Likewise, domestic violence has increased as the economy has worsened.

Our donation of $5000 will be used for the Children of Violent Homes Program that serves children as young as six who are suffering the same effects as soldiers diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - evidence that violence in the home is as real to families as it is to soldiers at war.
