Middleton Outreach Ministries

Middleton Outreach Ministries (MOM) was founded in 1980 by a Lutheran church as an apartment ministry. Since then, twelve more churches have joined and it has expanded to become an ecumenical, community-based social service organization serving West Madison, Middleton and Cross Plains area families and senior citizens. Core services include a Food Pantry monitored by a licensed dietician; a Clothing Closet for distribution of free clothes and household goods; Rental and Financial Assistance for help with utility bills, bus fares, car repairs, prescriptions, security deposits and first month’s rent; a Project for Older People dedicated to providing continued independence through help with transportation, chores, and shopping; Backpack for School which provides backpacks and supplies for individual student requirements; and other seasonal programs and events.

MOM serves approximately 30,000 people annually and is currently experiencing a 20% increase in demand. The focus of their support is to lower-income families, not the homeless population. All services are offered free of charge. MOM has nine staff members (three full-time and six part-time) and thousands of volunteers. Contributions from churches and individuals continue to come in but at smaller amounts because of the current economic situation.

Our donation of $5000 will assist this community effort to help neighbors in need.
