Koos for Kids

The mission of Koos for Kids is to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill and disadvantaged children in Southeastern Wisconsin. It was founded in 2005 by Racine native Marcus Hanel (nickname “Koos”), his wife, family and friends.

Marcus Hanel is the bullpen catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. Over the years, he has helped many charitable organizations raise money to help those in need. While he enjoyed that involvement, his desire to help those in his own community of Racine and to have hands-on involvement with all aspects of that charity motivated him to start Koos for Kids.

Since 2005, Koos for Kids has helped fifteen local families. Realizing that their organization does not have the funding to pay for medical bills, they focus on ways they can help brighten the days of seriously ill children. They have provided “shopping sprees,” family vacations to the Dells, computers, a new wheel chair for one child and a wheelchair lift for another. The Hanels establish lasting relationships with the families they serve.

Our donation of $5000 will allow Koos for Kids to help two or three families who have a child in need.
