Hurricane Katrina Support
Every year, the Gordon Flesch Company donates $100,000 to worthy causes throughout the Midwest. But when the Gulf Coast region was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, we knew we had to do something to help there, too. So the Gordon Flesch Company made a second $100,000 contribution. Shared by the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity, this gift helped the victims of Hurricane Katrina pick up the pieces and begin to rebuild the lives that had been so thoroughly changed forever.
In cooperation with Habitat for Humanity, the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation and volunteer associates built a "Home in a Box" for a grandmother and her four grandchildren. They had been left homeless by the disaster, and could not afford to rebuild. Their new home was partially assembled by our associates and shipped to the Gulf Coast, along with materials that were in short supply there, such as nails. The home was then completed, and the family was able to begin the healing process together.
