Golf Fore Wolfe and A Cure
Golf Fore Wolfe and A Cure began as a memorial to Eric Wolfe, an energetic, creative second year grad student at UW Madison who was diagnosed with brain cancer at age 23. Under the care of Dr. Minesh Mehta at the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center, Eric was able to survive almost 5 years: he died in 1996 at the age of 28.
His family and friends decided to establish the Eric Wolfe Professorship for brain cancer research to help continue the medical advancements and at the same time keep Eric’s memory alive. Since 1999, they have raised money through the golf outing so brain tumor patients will have a better chance to extend their lives. Because Eric received his treatment at the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center in Madison, they have designated that clinical and research facility as the recipient of their efforts under the guidance of Dr. Mehta. Five hundred thousand dollars was required to establish the Professorship – that was awarded last year. Future contributions will continue to help funding for neuro-oncology research and treatment.
Our donation of $5000 will contribute to the on-going research and clinical trials.
